How a page is built from a file
We download each file from the publisher, keep the source URL and release date with the rows, and render pages from those rows. Each page names its source and its data date. When the publisher posts a new release, we reload the file and update the date on the pages that changed.
A held dataset is licensed for review but has no pages yet, usually because its redistribution terms are not confirmed. We do not publish descriptions we are not allowed to republish, such as CPT descriptors.
How we handle errors
If a page's required data is missing, the page returns a 404 and stays out of the sitemap. We do not fill a gap with a guess. A code, phone number, schedule, or count that is not in the source file is left off the page.
A lookup that finds no row says so as a lookup result. For example, a drug with no matching formulary row is a lookup miss, not a coverage decision. If a live source does not respond, the page says the data is unavailable instead of showing an old or invented value.
