Authorized official

An authorized official is the person an organization names who can act for it on the NPI application or the Medicare enrollment. On a Type 2 NPI the public record can list that person's name and title. That person may also have their own Type 1 NPI, which is a different number. The lookup is at /npi-lookup.

Authorized official

The authorized official is a contact on the organization record. Listing them does not make the organization's NPI a Type 1 NPI.
