Billable code

A billable ICD-10-CM code is a code the CDC order file marks as valid to report on a claim. A header code groups more specific codes and is not billable. The FY2027 order file dated June 16, 2026 has 74,879 billable codes out of 98,403 codes. The lookup is at /icd-10.

Billable code

Billable means the order file flag allows the code on a claim. It does not mean a payer will cover the service, and it does not choose the code for a record.
