Definition
An Excludes2 note in ICD-10-CM means the excluded condition is not part of the code above the note. CDC says both conditions can be reported together when both are present. This site prints the note from the FY2027 tabular file dated June 16, 2026. It does not tell you which code to submit. The lookup is at /icd-10.
Excludes2 is different from Excludes1. Excludes1 says the two conditions are not coded together. Excludes2 says the second condition is coded in addition when it is also documented.
