Type 2 NPI

A Type 2 NPI is the National Provider Identifier for an organization, such as a hospital, group, or supplier. It is not the personal identifier of a clinician who works there. In the NPPES file, entity type 2 is the organization. The lookup is at /npi-lookup.

Type 2 NPI

The public record can list an authorized official. That person is a contact on the organization record. Their own Type 1 NPI, if they have one, is a different number.
